What if you built a holodeck and nobody came?

VR Discussion Wednesday November 20, 2:30 pm

Despite the public’s enthusiasm for the idea of virtual reality, consumer adoption of VR entertainment products in North America is stagnant. What happened?

Professionals in the VR industry believe that the media’s best days are still ahead as emerging technologies allow for more and more creative approaches to immersive environments. In this talk, we’ll briefly examine the history of VR video and it’s pitfalls. We will look at what has worked and what hasn’t to this point in the VR industry. We’ll also examine ongoing innovation in the medium that gives hope that virtual reality may yet become the next big thing.

Lyle Hewitt is the Vice-President of Business Development at Regina-based White Rabbit VR. Like many players in the industry, White Rabbit VR has weathered the ups and downs of slow consumer adoption but has persisted in finding new niches and applications for VR technology.
